This seminar gives an overview about Bevel and Hypoid Gears pointing on basics of geometry, load capacity and manufacturing. Starting with the analysis of similarities and differences between bevel and hypoid gears, the geometry parameters are examined. The load capacity calculation using standard methods or higher-quality methods (loaded tooth contact analysis – LTCA) are shown in principle. Key aspects for the production of the gears according to different processes (face milling, face hobbing, generated, non-generated) are explained.
